In a rural municipality east of Ghent, Baeyens & Beck Architects designed this distinctive contemporary home. The 1,700 square meter plot adjoins an old development from the 1970s. The sleek villa features a playful and harmonious combination of volumes. The project meets the comprehensive and well-considered requirements of the clients, a busy doctor couple with three children, and a beautiful Bain Du Nord swimming pool.
The garden features a simple and rustic planting scheme. At the back of the house, there is a terrace made of tropical hardwood on the kitchen side. From there, a row of concrete stepping stones leads to the 12 by 4 meter Bain Du Nord swimming pool.

The concrete terrace on the street side is designed with poured concrete and is sheltered under a large overhang with a void. Here, as well as at the other terrace, there are planting beds in round and organic shapes, featuring various solitary honey locust trees (Sophora japonica) to attract butterflies during the summer.
The Bain Du Nord swimming pool is highly insulated and utilizes smart technologies and energy-efficient heat pumps, allowing it to carry the labels of triple A and Nearly Zero Energy Pool in terms of energy performance. In these aspects, it has all the advantages to relax and swim with a peaceful and clear conscience.
